Postmedia Raise-a-Reader

Decoda Literacy Solutions is proud to partner with the Vancouver Sun and the Province of British Columbia for Raise-a-Reader. The Raise-a-Reader campaign was created by The Vancouver Sun in 1997 to support literacy work by helping increase awareness and raise money to fund children and family literacy programs in B.C. With the support of the Ministry of Education, the campaign has since donated more than $5.7 million to non-profit literacy programs, public school and community libraries throughout the province. Across Canada, Postmedia’s Raise-a-Reader has raised more than $17-million since the program’s national launch in 2002.

Volunteers consists of local sports celebrities (Vancouver Canucks, Vancouver Canadians, Vancouver Giants, Whitecaps FC and BC Lions); community leaders and government officials; the Vancouver Police and Vancouver Fire Rescue; the RCMP and Fire Departments from surrounding municipalities; literacy advocates; Raise-a-Reader beneficiaries; and TV/Radio personalities.
