We’re celebrating National Volunteer Week this week!

The Decoda staff team would like to thank the many volunteers who contribute to improving literacy in British Columbia. Because of you, peoples’ lives are changed.

Many, many hours are volunteered to advance literacy for individuals and for communities. Tutoring learners, participating in non-profit boards, meeting in task groups, and organizing events are just a sample of what literacy volunteers do every year. Thank you!

Do you want information on working with volunteers? Browse Decoda’s Working with volunteers: 25 ideas for good practice – it includes practical advice from practitioners. (The reference list will lead you to more resources that are either online or available for borrowing from the library.)

If you’re looking for advice on thanking volunteers, Volunteer Canada and Envision have created a list of the top 10 best practices in volunteer recognition based on new research.
