The Great Big Crunch

Date posted: March 3, 2020

On March 5th, you can participate in The Great Big Crunch. At 11 am, join together to bite into crunchy fresh local produce! Teachers can connect the crunch to math, science, language arts and more using apple activities from FoodShare’s 2020 Great Big Crunch Educator Toolkit.

The Great Big Crunch is one way to celebrate Canadian Agriculture Literacy Month. During March, Canadian students from K-12 are encouraged to learn about Canada’s agriculture and food story.

To help teachers with this, BC Agriculture in the Classroom has provided resources, including Reggie’s Technology Adventure storybook (order online) with accompanying lesson plans and activities on farm robots and farms of the future.

To learn about more ways you can bring the farm to your classroom, visit BC Agriculture in the Classroom and Fresh Roots.
