TD Canadian Children’s Book Week
Date posted: May 3, 2019
TD Canadian Children’s Book Week starts tomorrow! This annual event celebrates Canadian children’s books and the importance of reading. This year’s theme, Readers are Dreamers, underlines the magical escape that books give us.
Thirty Canadian children’s authors, illustrator and storytellers will be doing readings in schools, libraries, community centres and bookstores across Canada. Even if you aren’t able to attend an event, you can take part in the celebration by reading Canadian children’s books. Looking for book suggestions? Browse the 2019 TD Canadian Children’s Book Week Reading List, which includes the authors who are touring this year, along with their book titles. For more suggestions, visit the Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Best Books for Kids & Teens.
The Canadian Children’s Book Centre has produced a number of free printables, including bookmarks, a library scavenger hunt and book bingo.
Do you have a favourite Canadian children’s book? You are invited to share which Canadian children’s book you’re reading or post an old favourite, using the hastag #TDBookWeek and #ChooseCanadianBooks, tagging @KidsBookCentre.
