Today is World Day for Safety and Health at Work. This year the focus is on optimizing the collection and use of data on occupational health and safety.

Did you know that there’s a made-in-BC curriculum that is designed to help build students’ literacy skills while they learn information about health and safety at work?

Building Resilient Workers: Health and Safety at Work is a facilitator guide for literacy practitioners that contains five modules that cover:

  • rights and responsibilities
  • hazards in the workplace
  • workplace first aid
  • ergonomics
  • workplace violence.

There is an accompanying student workbook, Health and Safety at Work. Both the facilitator’s guide and the student workbook are available for purchase or through free download (guide and workbook).

The curriculum, Building Resilient Workers, is the product of a collaboration between the BC Federation of Labour’s Health and Safety Centre and Decoda Literacy Solutions, and was funded by WorkSafeBC.
