National Child & Youth Mental Health Day

Today is National Child & Youth Mental Health Day in Canada. Families, Together: Supporting the Mental Well-being of Children and Youth features four families sharing their experiences supporting a child or youth with a mental health challenge. It also features two health professionals outlining how families can support the mental well-being of children and youth. A discussion guide and videos with subtitles in six other languages are available here.
Here are some made in BC resources with mental health information for youth and parents:
Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre provides mental health and substance use information, resources, peer support and system navigation to children, youth and families from across BC. They’re the source of the Families, Together video as well as many other resources. Their Healthy Living Toolkit is available online or may be borrowed from the Decoda Library.
Mindcheck.ca is a website designed to help youth and young adults in BC to check out how they’re feeling and connect to mental health resources quickly and easily.
Mindshift is a free app designed to help teens and young adults understand and cope with anxiety.
