Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) in partnership with MakerBus (a mobile technology learning centre) created Maker Modules as part of the “Using Technology to Facilitate Connections between Literacy and the Broader Community” project. Each of the modules was designed for enhancing hands on experience for adult learners using different types of technology on the MakerBus. Each module includes notes for literacy practitioners, pre-visit activities, learning module, and post-visit activity as well as an equipment list. There are modules for: Augmented Reality, Bluetooth, Dropbox, Evernote, Leap Motion, Macrophotography, MaKey Makey, Portable Podcasting, QR Codes, Tiny Scan, Word Lens and The World of 3D.
While we don’t all have access to the equipment available on the MakerBus, many of these modules use free technology. And, they all offer good ideas for introducing learners to different types of technology.
