Giving Tuesday – the global day of giving
Date posted: November 27, 2017
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday. It is a global movement for giving and volunteering when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes.
On November 28th, across Canada and around the world, nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals are encouraged to donate time and resources to address local issues as part of a global movement to bring about change. The campaign uses the collective power of social media to spread the message of #GivingTuesday
As a partner in #GivingTuesdayCA and #VanGives, Decoda Literacy Foundation is asking individuals and businesses in B.C. to take action to support literacy in their community by joining The 400 Club.
Our monthly giving club reflects the number of communities Decoda supports each year. Our goal is to sign up 40 members this year to be champions of literacy for their community. For more information on how you can join The 400 Club, click here.
Giving Tuesday was started in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism of Black Friday and Cyber Monday that happens in November around U.S. Thanksgiving.
