Free ESL Tutor Training

The English as a Second Language Settlement Assistance Program (ESLSAP) ended in 2014, but the ESLSAP tutor training resources continue to be available free online from Open School BC. The resources are intended for anyone who is interested in working one-to-one with immigrants, helping them learn the English language. Here’s what’s available:
ESLSAP Tutor Training modules – 4 self-directed introductory modules covering:
The ESLSAP Coordinator Resource – for tutor trainers facilitating face-to-face training for volunteer tutors, includes 10 modules
The ESLSAP Tutor Handbook – a supplementary workbook for the 10 modules

Resources to use when working with adult ELL students, including print copies of the ESLSAP Coordinator resource and tutor companion, can be borrowed from the Decoda Library. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to ask for suggestions or request titles.
