Decoda’s Summer Reading 2019 – Fanny
Date posted: August 21, 2019
What is summer good for? Reading all the old magazines that I have subscribed to but have not had a chance to read.
Through my professional membership, I receive Pivot CPA magazines 6 times a year. I usually scan through them and look for interesting statistics, forensic accounting stories and all feature stories about CPAs who made it big in the business world. Beth Wilson is a CPA that became the CEO of Dentons Canada, the largest law firm in the world. Matthew Corrin started Freshii in Toronto 13 years ago and now had 421 locations as of July 2019. All very interesting.
Don’t judge me when I tell you I have been subscribing to the O Magazine for years. Don’t shake your head when I tell you some of them date back a decade ago!
Sometimes I gain useful insight from these magazines like Dr. Phil on How to Say No from October 2012 issue, Best Advice Ever issue.
How easy does it get?
Now I wonder if my teenage daughters read this piece of advice when they were eleven and thirteen in 2012 ….
Then I read the latest issue of O Magazine. Oprah talked to Malcolm Gladwell, one of my favourite authors, and I found out his new book, Talking to Strangers, goes on sale on September 10. Now that’s really good information. I can’t wait to get hold of a copy!
