I love discovering books in a variety of ways and places.

There are 4 little free libraries within a few blocks of where I live. I love the randomness of the collections within. While I’m gathering up all the mysteries in sight, something else inevitably catches my eye.  Sometimes it’s a dud, sometimes it’s a gem. I’m always glad I picked it up.

I also work with a bunch of book lovers, so there’s a healthy book exchange in our office. Less random, and often a great source of books I might not have chosen on my own or that I’ve been meaning to read.

It’s impossible for me to walk past a book store without going in, and I love supporting local authors – especially ones I know – by buying their books. Sometimes I head to the web to find something like an out-of-print book of Vancouver area walking loops.

And finally, there is a vast collection that circulates through my own bookshelves at home. There is a whole lot of good intent to be found here.  For instance, this summer I will try to finish Infinite Jest.  Again.

When I finish a book at an airport or restaurant, I love leaving it there with a note on it: “Take me!”.

I keep track of books with the app Goodreads, so don’t be surprised if you find me standing in front of a little free library near you scanning a book cover to see if I’ve read this book before.
