The Participation Domain
The Participation Domain is expressed as a matrix. This matrix encompasses two of the three broad categories of key competencies identified by the DeSeCo Project (Organization for Economic Co-operation, Definition and Selection of Key Competencies, Executive Summary 4). These categories are ‘interact in heterogeneous groups’ and ‘act autonomously’. They include competencies such as the ability to relate well with others, to cooperate, and to form and conduct life plans and personal projects.
The cognitive processes for the participation domain are: set goals, organization, problem solving, reflection, and engagement.
