In honour of mothers and grandmothers: Sarah joins The 400 Club
Three generations of women in Sarah’s family have all shared the same belief that literacy is important to everyone.
“Literacy is like good health. You are always better off having it. It makes such a difference to be able to read and to navigate the world,” says Sarah, who recently joined The 400 Club and is providing support to Decoda Literacy Foundation through a monthly donation.
Sarah says her inspiration for joining The 400 Club was her mother, Margaret, and her grandmother, Elaine, who died last year.
“My grandmother was a school teacher and a volunteer tutor. Literacy was really important to her,” says Sarah.
In joining The 400 Club, Sarah also chose to honour Margaret by sending her a Mother’s Day e-card from Decoda to recognize her work in the field of literacy.
