Can I request that my donation to Decoda Literacy be used in a particular way?

Yes. Please specify which fund designation you would like your donation to be directed to at the time of donation.   If the fund you wish to designate the donation for is not available, you can include a message or instruction with your donation that will be received by us.

Can I cancel my donation?

No. Donations are non-refundable according to the Canada Revenue Agency.  You cannot change your mind once you’ve made a charitable donation.

Receipting:

How do I get my receipt?

Receipts will be sent by Canada Post with a letter of acknowledgement as soon as it is processed at our office in downtown Vancouver.

Is my receipt valid for tax credits?

Yes, you may use your receipt for filing with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) when submitting your tax return.

Why can’t I have tax receipts issued in someone else’s name?

Receipts can only be issued to the payee of a donation. The donor/payee of a donation makes the cash donation to charity and therefore qualifies for the tax credit. For more information about how Canadian charities must issue tax receipts, please visit the Canada Revenue Agency site.

If you would like to dedicate your gift, you can make a donation in honour of someone, but only the donor or payee can receive the tax receipt.

Privacy:

Do you sell or trade donor information?

No. Decoda Literacy Solutions does not share donor information with third parties in accordance with our donor confidentiality policy.

Monthly Donations:

How does monthly giving work?

Monthly donations are a great way to give back and budget your giving at the same time. To set up a monthly gift, check the monthly giving option on our donation slip/secure server.   Your credit card will be charged every month on the same date for your donation.

How do I get my receipt?

Receipts are not issued each month.  Instead, a cumulative receipt for your particular tax year will be created at the conclusion of each calendar year, and sent to you by mail.

Will I receive notification when my credit card is processed?

Yes. You will receive an email from Decoda Literacy Foundation when your card is processed.
