LITERACY SUCCESS STORIES

The time I was new to BC/CANADA

By James Li

When I was new to Vancouver in 2012, I felt strange and novel. It was such a quiet city, not many people, not much traffic and not many shops in the street. It didn’t feel like the city in China. I didn’t even know where to buy foods and daily supplies. I felt lost every day.

As time went on, I went to school to study English. I met some good teachers and classmates. I learned more knowledge about Canada. I began to love the city slowly. I like the natural environment. I like the polite people. I like the orderly society.

I love Canada!

James’ story is one of many success stories that are possible due to your support of literacy programs. This is his submission to our Literacy is Life contest in September, 2016.
