The Time I Didn’t Understand a Language or Culture
By Lisa Yuan
Four years ago, I came to Canada. Everything is fresh for me here. I like beautiful flowers, ocean, mountains and all kinds of houses. But I didn’t understand English. I was upset.
After a few months, I went to the government paid ELSA classes to study English. The ELSA teachers are nice and friendly. I felt happy in class. I never felt bored. My teachers are so funny and they make English learning interesting for us. Now my English is getting more and my upset got gone. Thank Canada’s government and ELSA teachers help me.
This story is Lisa’s submission about overcoming a challenge which was submitted to our Literacy is Life contest in September, 2016.
