Are you looking for information on safe texting?
TextEd.ca is a website designed to teach Canadian teens how to be safe, responsible and respectful users of texting technologies. Its goal is to build skills to be able to handle difficult situations that may be encountered when using cell phones. Topics include friendship relationships, dealing with stress and break-ups. The website includes games, quizzes, discussion pages, downloadables and other age appropriate tools.
The activities and format are geared to Grade 7 and 8 students in Canada. It includes a teachers’ area with a series of lessons and teaching materials. Click here for a sample lesson plan.
While the material is designed for teens, the information is useful in other contexts. The 411 presents 11 guidelines for safe texting. And, the Acronictionary is a handy reference for texting abbreviations.
