Tech Tuesday: Learner Internet safety pledge
Date posted: August 20, 2013
It’s Tech Tuesday, highlighting resources on literacy, technology, and the digital world.
Cybersafety is an important consideration when using the Internet. For practitioners who are teaching Internet use, here are a couple of guides that help keep learners safe.
Internet Use Agreement by Rob Nickel is a list of 20 rules for children learning to use the Internet in class. Both the child and parents sign the contract.
Community Literacy of Ontario has created a similar, shorter Learner Internet Safety Pledge, adapted for use in adult literacy programs. It is available in page 5 of their January 2013 newsletter, Our Voice. (This issue is devoted to cyber risks and is filled with a lot of other information on cybersafety. Definitely worth reading.)
