Tech Tuesday: Cyber-Seniors
Date posted: November 12, 2013
It’s Tech Tuesday, highlighting resources on literacy, technology, and the digital world.
Cyber-Seniors is a program that pairs teenage mentors with seniors who want to learn online computer skills. It started as a school community service project and has grown into a program with downloadable handbooks for participants and for teenage mentors as well as promotional materials and an upcoming feature documentary. The handbooks outline five lessons and the mentor’s handbook offers tips on working with seniors. For more information, visit the Cyber-Seniors website.
For other learning materials for seniors who want to use computers and get online, don’t forget the popular workbooks created by the Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy. These cover even more skills than the Cyber-Seniors program, and can be found on our website and the CBAL website. While originally designed to be used with seniors, these workbooks and lesson plans are good for all adults.
