Young children can find it hard to sit still sometimes. The music you choose to use with them can match that energy level, combining music and movement. In the following video, Lindsay Krabbenhoft and Dana Horrocks, two children’s librarians from Vancouver, sing a song to help “get the wiggles out”.

If you’re looking for any songs to sing with young children, the Jbrary website is a wonderful resource. You can learn new songs by seeing them in action. The YouTube playlists that organize their songs by topic help you zero in on themes. Or, visit their YouTube channel for a constantly updating selection of songs.

This week is Family Literacy Week in BC. This year’s theme is Tuning Into Music – Listen! Make! Move! Visit our Family Literacy web page for resources to share with parents.
