September is Literacy Month
Date posted: September 1, 2017
Today is the start of Literacy Month in communities across BC. And it’s also the start of Decoda’s 4th annual Literacy is Life campaign. Literacy is Life raises awareness of the importance of literacy, and raises funds to support community-based literacy programs and initiatives across British Columbia. This year’s theme is Fostering Literacy.
Here’s one way to show your support for literacy. Wear purple on September 8th, UNESCO International Literacy Day, and throughout Literacy Month and post on social media using the hashtags #LiteracyisLife and #FosteringLiteracy. (If you don’t have anything purple in your wardrobe, try a pair of Blue Sky socks for literacy. Find out about them here.)
What do you do to foster literacy for yourself? For someone else? Check back here next week for tips and more.
