Safety Resources for Young Workers
Date posted: November 27, 2013
Helen Chandler and Robin Schooley from WorkSafeBC presented a session at the conference on protecting young, new and vulnerable workers. You can view their slide presentation here. It’s a good reminder of all the resources on the WorkSafeBC website.
There’s a section of their website that contains resources for young workers. Here you’ll find videos, guides, pamphlets, a self-paced safety program for young workers, a magazine, and more. There are also resources for parents of young workers, educators, employers and supervisors, unions, and youth and community groups.
Why focus on young workers?
Do you know about the student video contest? Since 2006, WorkSafeBC has had an annual video contest for students in Grade 8 to 12. The 2013 contest winners have been announced and you can view their videos here. The theme for the 2014 contest is “Don’t let your first job be your last” and contest guidelines have been posted online.
