Reading Challenges for 2019
Date posted: December 21, 2018
Want to boost your reading in 2019? A reading challenge may be just the thing to expand your reading life. There are several reading challenges online. Here are a few:
Modern Mrs. Darcy’s 2019 Reading Challenge has ten categories of books, for a total of 12 books to read next year. There are plenty of reading suggestions on this website.
Book Riot’s 2019 Read Harder Challenge involves 24 reading tasks, and some of them are quite specific.
We encourage you to push yourself, to take advantage of this challenge as a way to explore topics or formats or genres that you otherwise wouldn’t try. But this isn’t a test. No one is keeping score and there are no points to post. We like books because they allow us to see the world from a new perspective, and sometimes we all need help to even know which perspectives to try out. That’s what this is—a perspective shift—but one for which you’ll only be accountable to yourself.
The Good Reads’ Reading Challenge, Around the Year in 52 Books, is more ambitious. Even if you don’t have time to read all the categories, there are interesting ideas for topics to read.
Just looking for just a few suggestions for your ‘To Be Read’ list? The longlist for Canada Reads 2019 will be revealed on January 10th.
