New in the library – just in time for World Health day this Saturday, April 7th:

Health stories: reading and language activities for healthy choices. Introductory level by Ann Gianola. (2007)
This introductory student book provides 14 lessons on health topics of general interest including exercise, hand washing, emergencies, smoking, flu, hay fever, and excess sugar and salt. Each lesson includes a reading, with exercises to practice basic language skills that focus on reading, speaking and vocabulary development and listening. Includes some critical thinking and communication activities.

This low-beginning student book provides 14 lessons on health topics of general interest including stress, lifting, flossing, food safety, alcohol and bad cuts. The lessons in this student book also have readings with exercises to practice basic language skills.

Each of these student books has an accompanying workbook with additional practice exercises to reinforce the 14 lessons in the Health Stories student book. The exercises include vocabulary, spelling, listening and reading comprehension exercises. Prompts for listening activities are included. The workbooks are available separately – request them along with the student books.
