National Indigenous History Month

Date posted: June 6, 2018

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada. The complex history of First Nations, Inuit and Métis people began before any other group living in Canada. A number of resources on Indigenous history can be found on the federal government website.

Indian residential schools are a significant part of Indigenous history in Canada. Two resources with clearly written information are the Project of Heart website and Speaking our Truth: a journey of reconciliation. Both of these are connected to additional educational resources.
