Mental Health Information
Date posted: May 5, 2015
This week is Canadian Mental Health Week, and today we’re showcasing two made-in-BC websites for mental health information.
Here to Help is a project of the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions Information, a group of seven leading provincial mental health and addictions non-profit agencies. Their goal is to help people better prevent and manage mental health and substance use problems and live a healthier life. The website contains information for family members, professionals (including teachers) and individuals. It includes personal stories, self help resources (information sheets and workbooks), information on getting help and an ‘ask us’ service. This website is also home to the Plainer Language Series, a series of booklets written in plain, clear language about mental health.
Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre is a provincial resource centre that provides mental health and substance information, resources and peer support to children, youth and their families. It also provides support for people of all ages with eating disorders. This is a good place to find information and resources on a wide range of mental health and substance use issues affecting children and youth. There are resources, including videos, for healthcare professionals, parents and other caregivers, school professionals, and youth and young adults. The following video explains some of their services.
