Libraries Inspire Literacy – an invitation
Date posted: October 5, 2015
It’s BC Library Month! This year’s theme is Libraries Inspire.
Traditionally, libraries have played a strong role in the literacy of their communities. Decoda Literacy Solutions is celebrating the many ways Libraries Inspire Literacy. All BC literacy practitioners and libraries are invited to contribute to a Facebook photo album showcasing the literacy work happening now in BC libraries. Let’s build a display – all kinds of literacy, all age groups, all kinds of libraries, and all areas of the province – that honours the literacy work in libraries.
Here’s how to participate:
1. Take a photo of literacy happening at your library. For example, you can highlight a program, a service, a collection or an activity.
2. Share your photo on social media, with a brief description of how it’s connected to literacy.
a. Post to your Facebook page and tag @DecodaLiteracy and #Libraries Inspire #Literacy,
b. Post on our Facebook page and tag it #Libraries Inspire #Literacy, or
c. Email to firstname.lastname@example.org (subject line: Libraries Inspire Literacy)
We’ll take care of adding it to the album.
3. Encourage people to visit the album and “like” their favourite photos. The person whose photo has the most likes at the end of October 31 will win a $25 Chapters gift e-card.
Don’t miss this opportunity to build a greater awareness of some important literacy work happening in our province!
