Do your learners need help accessing information about the law?
Legal Services Society provides free legal information in a number of languages. They also maintain the Family Law in British Columbia website. This is a good starting place to find general information about the law to help identify a legal issue and the options that might be available to help.
Legal Services Society was a sponsor of the Decoda conference and the presentation slides for Literacy: What’s Law Got to do with it? Part 2 with Alex Peel are available online
Legal Services Society also contributes to Clicklaw, a website that provides public legal information, education, and help for British Columbians, operated by the Courthouse Libraries BC. Legal Help for British Columbians, a guide to help non-legal professionals make legal referrals for their clients, is an example of what’s available.
