International Children’s Book Day 2016

Date posted: April 1, 2016

April 2nd is International Children’s Book Day!

Every year, International Children’s Book Day is celebrated to inspire a love of reading and to bring attention to the importance of children’s books.

Each year, a different National Section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) sponsors the day. The host country decides on a theme, invites a prominent author from the host country to write a message to the children of the world, and invites a well-known illustrator to design a poster. This year’s host is Brazil, and the theme is ‘Once Upon a Time.’ The poster design in our feature image was created by Ziraldo. You can read this year’s story on this page
