Health Literacy in Community Organizations: A Toolkit to Support Engagement and Planning (PDF, October 2014) provides practical and user-friendly information and tools for improving health literacy within organizations and communities.  It shares the lessons learned and tools created from Learning for Health, a project that explored embedded learning approaches to health literacy in communities across Canada.

This project involved community organizations that work with population groups most likely to experience barriers to accessing, understanding, evaluating and communicating information important for their health.  In addition to tools and strategies, this toolkit includes a description of the link between literacy and health and literacy’s effect on health.

To learn more about the link between literacy and health, read Decoda’s Health & Literacy Fact Sheet  and visit our Health Literacy Resource List.
