Decoda’s Summer Reading – Diana Twiss
Date posted: July 12, 2017
As soon as my holidays started, I grabbed the first book available, “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty. I came highly recommended by my daughter – “Read the book, it’s better than the movie.” For a summer read, it did not disappoint.
But what’s on my true summer reading list is a collection of books that may surprise you. Inspired by the 20th Anniversary of the first Harry Potter book, I decided to read them – all seven. Not re-read them. Read them – for the first time.
How I have managed to avoid reading them is a much longer story than worth telling. I’ve read sections of several of them, but never an entire one. And I’ve seen many of the movies. Now, I am reading each one, in order. I’ve just finished the third “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” and am looking forward to #4.
The nice thing about reading them this way (so long after publication) is that I don’t have to wait long periods of time for the next one to come out. And from #3 onwards, they are terrifically long books. There’s much reading and learning about the world of magic ahead. Just what a summer holiday allows.
