Conversation Circles

Date posted: October 22, 2015

Conversation circles provide an opportunity for English language students to practice a new language and meet new people. This month’s LISTN Instructors’ Bulletin is focused on conversation circles. It describes different models of conversation circles, best practices, challenges, key principles and selected online resources. Click here to read the bulletin.

If you are working on conversation skills with your adult ESL students, the library has some resources that you can borrow. Here are two popular choices:

Compelling Conversations: questions and quotations on timeless topics: an engaging ESL textbook for advanced students

Conversation Strategies: pair and group activities for developing communicative competence

To borrow either of these books or other resources on developing oral communication skills, email library@decoda.ca
