Bookish Advent Calendar
Date posted: November 29, 2013
Spotted on the Delightful Children’s Books blog, a bookish advent calendar. The idea is to create an advent calendar of books to be read together. And this can be done economically by using library books to fill many of the spaces. The blogpost includes a selection of 25 books that the blog writer has wrapped and will read, one per night, from December 1st to 25th. If you need more ideas, your local library is a good place to look.
If you’re using library books, be sure you check the borrowing limit on holiday books at your local library. Public libraries often set a limit on the number of holiday books you can borrow at one time and how long you can borrow them so everyone can share the collection. As one Burnaby librarian at the conference noted, they don’t all have to be Christmas books; they can just be a wonderful treat that you want to share with your family.
If this becomes a family tradition, then using library books can help you discover family favourites to purchase and re-read every year.
